Discipling for Development
Summer Training Program (D4D STP)
The D4D STP is designed to provide an understanding of doing whole-life discipleship alongside communities on the margins. You will be introduced to the foundations of Discipling for Development - a ministry that has over 35 years of experience of ministering holistically around the world. Throughout the 9 weeks, you will explore God's heart for justice and begin to discover how to facilitate biblical community transformation and poverty alleviation. You will also get a chance to start practicing what you have learned and develop through mentorship and coaching from D4D practitioners as well as your peers. Ultimately, the goal is that you begin to experience inside-out transformation and are equipped for the good works that God has prepared in advance for you to do.
Large group Meetings: Foundations Lessons
Small group meetings: Bible study and reflection discussions
Reading: Toxic Charity by Robert Lupton
You will also engage with a few multimedia resources, such as the documentary Poverty, Inc., which provide exposure to vulnerable populations and various approaches to development.
You will be coached in selecting and then volunteering with a like-minded ministry in your local context for 2 hours/week.
You will gain knowledge and process what you learn through one-on-one coaching and interactive learnings from experienced field practitioners.
